OK  Something happened.  Thank you to everyone who came out to our open house/open boat a week and a half ago.  It was great fun for us.
Last weekend we went up to White lake to try out some new instruments on the boat and to anchor out for the first time.  Thank you to my friend Cheriton for coming along to help out.  Last Friday night was our first night on the hook.  That is on the anchor.  It was a very pleasant night and I hope the first of many.  We are winding things up at the house in Hudsonville.  My house may close next week.  They keep inching closer.  Thank you Chad for your persistance.  At any rate we are planning to leave on Sunday Aug. 2, whether things are done or not.  Time to get the show on the road.  More to come.

Lots Happening

Well, my house has sold.  Closing should be on July 20.
We have to be out of our slip on July 30 so we will be heading North first.
I want to see the bridge from the water so we are heading that way first.  Then along the North shore of Lake Michigan and over to Wisconsin.  We need to be in Chicago the end of August to start the journey.  That will be our first big challenge.  We will need to lower the mast (with all the electronics attached to it) to get under the first bridge.  Then we need to put it back up.  Apparently its pretty easy to get down but not so easy to get it back up.  We have ideas.
But first Lake Michigan for a month.  Still trying to find places to put everything on the boat.  Will be going thru my clothes and kitchen stuff once again and pitching things.  Then there is the paperwork.  What to save, what to get rid of.  Letting go of that which you felt like you couldn't live without is really the beginning of most journeys I think.
And so it goes.
I will post more frequently from now on.  Promise!
