Well, getting frustrated with the computer again. Poor reception here at Aqua Marina. We left Joe Wheeler state park and went back to Florence harbor, Alabama. That is the birthplace of W. C. Handy, father of the blues. That was also the birthplace of Helen Keller. Went thru 2 locks to get there without much wait. Amazing.
Just a word about General Joe Wheeler. He was educated at West Point but when the civil war broke out he sided with the Confederates. After the war he became a senator. When the TVA came along in the 1930's they wanted a sizable chunk of his land. Since he was already dead by that time his daughter stepped in and said the only way she would sell the land is if they created a state park and named it after her father. So, teach your children well.
After 2 days at Florence we continued back down the Tennessee river to the headwaters of the Tennessee Tombigby Waterways. We are sitting here at Aqua for another couple days then off down the TennTom. Having big fun with the other Loopers. Who would have thought a "fart" machine would make everyone laugh so hard.
